This is the final route of the old Ushu-Kaido road
in Kuroishi city. This route is thought to have been
established in the Edo period.
Before that, it was thought to have gone from "kokano"
to "Ishinazakadate", crossed the river, passed through
"Botandaira", passed through "Nagasaka",
crossed the "Kamitogawa", passed through "Akasaka",
and went to "Mishima" and "Takadate". However,
when the Edo-period began, a branch of the Hirosaki-
Tsugaru-clan (Lord Tsugaru-Nobufusa) built a new house
in Kuroishi and started to develop the town,
forming a merchant town and becoming a bustling post town.
Naturally, a new transportation route was established
from Kokano via Aseishimura, up the slope of
Nagasaki's river terrace, through Yamagata-machi, Mae-machi,
Naka-machi, and Hama-machi.
After this, the road crosses the Takehana settlement
and enters Hongo, which is now part of Aomori city.
