In addition to Sakurayama-Park, Kuroishi also has
a large park in the center of the city called Miyuki Park,
which was used as a horse riding ground for the former
Kuroishi-Domain in the Edo period.
This park was owned by the lord of Kuroishi-Castle at the time
and was not open to the public until the Meiji-period, but after
the Meiji Restoration, the castle area was divided
into smaller areas, and the Kuroishi-Prefectural-Office was
established there for only two months. In addition,
the district office, Kuroishi Elementary School,
Kuroishi Post Office, etc. were built, and later the city hall,
Kuroishi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Kuroishi Hospital
were also built.
There was also a police station, legal affairs bureau, and
tax office. Finally, the house where the 15th head
of the Tsugaru family lives today, and the land with related
facilities such as the Kuroishi-Shrine, which enshrines
the first lord of Tsugaru, Nobufusa-Tsugaru, is still
the residence of the Kuroishi-Tsugaru family,
a religious corporation. Currently, the site of Miyuki Park
is owned by Kuroishi City and is a parking lot for citizens
who use the city's facilities.
